While people are getting more and more adventurous with mixing periods and styles in their home, one of the puzzling questions we're always asked is how to mix wood tones in a room with painted furniture.

Embrace what you already have or love!

If your furniture is dark or traditional and you want to incorporate painted pieces go ahead! Not everything needs to be painted or everything wood... Mix it up! Work with what you already have.

Natural wood tables mix beautifully with painted or upholstered chairs. If your looking to add more colour, try painting just the legs of your table and leaving the top natural wood.

If you have a traditional bedroom set with nightstands and matching dresser, perhaps put the nightstands in another bedroom to mix up the set. Or paint the nightstands or the dresser in a fun color to lighten the overall mood, and you can keep the bed as it is!  ♥ 

You can also use Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ Wax on raw wood like a stain. If you don't want to paint your piece but it needs some freshening up, give it a sand and use your Dark Wax to bring life back to your wood.
