Decorating A Nursery Using Annie Sloan's Chalk Paint™

One of the reasons we love Chalk Paint™ decorative paint by Annie Sloan is that it’s safe to use all around your home—even in your baby’s room!

Our Home Décor Consultant Mark recently decorated a room for a special new arrival—his daughter, Quinn. Mark painted not only the crib, but also the changing table and dresser using Chalk Paint™ decorative paint by Annie Sloan in Duck Egg. He finished the furniture using a clear wax. We think he did a gorgeous job! There’s definitely a reason we keep him around to help you with all your home decorating needs.

Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ Is Safe For The Whole Family

Mark chose Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ because it's safe to use on children’s furniture. Both Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ and Chalk Paint™ Wax are non-toxic, water-based paints. They are naturally low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) typically found in paints and are virtually odourless. These water-based paints are safe for the whole family to use!

Both Chalk Paint™ and Chalk Paint™ Wax have been independently tested and certified as Toy Safe according to strict European regulations (BS EN 71-3:2013), so you can be sure that little ones aren’t in harms way when exploring their environment.

While there are no harmful chemicals in these products, we still advise that the momma-to-be puts her feet up and lets someone else take care of the nursery.

We like these waxes because they’re so durable. Everyone knows that kids, and babies especially, are messy. Your finished projects can be maintained and cleaned by wiping with a soft cloth and mild soap and water. If there are scratches, stains or watermarks, you can repair them by applying a bit more wax with a soft cloth.

You can learn more about Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ on Unfolded’s FAQs page, including where else this versatile decorative paint can be used (like the kitchen!). For more nursery DIY inspiration, check out Unfolded’s feature on an ombré changing table.
