Be Inspired - Sticky Finish?

One of our most frequently asked questions is, "What can I do if my finish feels sticky and leaves fingerprints?"

We couldn't it answer it better than Annie Sloan has in her own words:

Failure to remove the excess wax can leave a sticky or smeary finish. First try to remove and buff out the excess wax using lots of clean cloths and a bit of physical exertion. Change to a fresh cloth when the old one becomes clogged with wax. You can also try applying a thin layer of additional wax; the solvents contained therein will "melt" the underlying wax and again you will need lots of clean rags and a bit of elbow grease to remove the excess. As a last resort, you can remove the excess wax by wiping over the surface with a cloth dampened with mineral spirits. Most likely you will need to reapply a thing coat of wax.
